If you OR your salespeople can’t take vacation ~ and not login ~ you’re making a mistake!
“Studies have shown that taking time away from the job can have physical and mental health benefits. People who take vacations have lower stress, less risk of heart disease, a better outlook on life, and more motivation to achieve goals.” by Kathryn Isham, PsyD LP, Allina Health
“Taking vacation time is essential to employee survival. That’s because time off from work is integral to well-being, sustained productivity and high performance.” Caroline Castrillon, Forbes contributor
Yet recently:
- I still got an email response from someone telling me they’re on vacation until Monday and would get back to me… NO not an auto responder!
- Someone still had their office phone forwarded to their cell… and said “I’m in Disney with my kids, can this wait?”
PLUS:
- when a salesperson I work with came back to the office after vacation, they were expected to be caught up with everything… in their 9:00am meeting, yes the first day back.
Work Ethic is the first success factor in your toolbox – you MUST be willing to put in the hard work, whatever is “hard” for you that you know must be done. Someone once told me that “successful salespeople do the things that unsuccessful salespeople fail to do.”
YET to work hard you must be physically and mentally healthy. Which requires time off: the skill of relaxing takes as much practice as all the other skills you need for your success.
