Intentionality & Leverage (lifted @iannarino Elite Sales Strategies ch 12)

“…intentionality: you must actively leverage every insight, every experience, and every interaction…” (pg 210)

Mindset

Anthony talks about responsibility for personal development, for failures. What he doesn’t talk about is taking responsibility for your successes as well. If everything is your fault – that includes the good stuff as well.

Personally I love that curiosity is part of the mindset conversation – as I believe its one of the 6 Success Commonalities. As a life long learner myself – the idea of seeking mastery of our sales craft resonated deeply as well.

Then his Impatient Patience reminded me of Colleen Stanley’s EI work around the concept of Delayed Gratification.

Tactical

There are PAGES of great ideas on how to organize your insights – again these posts are around what I find valuable. So here it is… Journaling & Tracking; with complete disregard to what it might mean to your future self.

  • document your experiences
  • keep a decision journal (I hadn’t heard of or thought of this so more info…. “when ever you have a significant decision to make, write down your choice and explain why you believe it to be the right decision. Later, record the outcome of the decision, right or wrong.” pg 217)
  • prediction: write down what you believe will happen and why, then track the actual results.

For the rest of the tactical ideas, I’d once again refer you to your own reading to pick and choose the pieces that resonate with you – following my Chinese Buffet Theory of Learning; take what you want and incorporate it into the meal that is your sales career.

Please note that although there is a Ch 13 in Elite Sales Strategies, The Secret Chapter and I’m not going to write about it. Why? Because what Anthony talks about – out of context of reading the entire book – will backfire. Yup that’s it, that’s all you get (unless of course over the past few MONTHS of reading the blog you bought your own copy and can read it yourself).
