Sometimes when you’re looking at the view, it’s not quite right… or not quite what you’re hoping for.
Like almost an inch of snow in May. I love winter. I love where I live. Really!
What are the choices we have when the view’s not meeting our expectations?
Choice #1: wallow or change
I have what some may see as bad news. The only thing we can change is ourselves.
If your looking outside at snow in May – you can’t change the weather.
If you’re looking at the view of your sales team’s results – you can’t change that either.
Your first choice is to either wallow in your disappointment, or look inside yourself at what needs to change. Determine WHAT you believe the change needs to be. Plus, honestly decide if you’re willing to make the change.
Choice #2: lament or act
As you’ve made that first choice, the next thing you must decide is about letting go.
To actually take action, you can’t be lamenting the situation – you MUST let go of your negativity… anger… disappointment.
To act, you’ll need to go into the new world you’re creating without any negativity.
Choice #3: sigh or smile
There it is… the third choice. More about emotions, don’t blame me!
Take a moment to sigh… then leave that all behind and smile.
Smile that the sunlight on the snow is beautiful in May, just like it is in January.
Smile that there are good things happening on your team, in fact: make a list.
- one good thing for each person on your team.
- one win that everyone has had this year.
- on bit of sunshine.
You’ve got this! You get to choose.
