Invasion of the Sales-bots

One day I was sitting back thinking of why some salespeople are FANTASTIC at what they do and others, well frankly just aren’t.

Not only are they NOT FANTASTICthey aren’t even good at what they do.

WHY would that be… that some salespeople connect with their prospects and customers while others don’t?

Then it hit me, it is because there are Sales-bots out there masquerading as salespeople.

How can you recognize a Sales-bot?

  • They respond ‘Yes’ instead of ‘Hello’ when someone answers the phone.
  • There is NO personality in their voice.
  • Their second question has NOTHING to do with the prospect’s answer to their first question.
  • They are reading from a script written by someone else.
  • The company auto attendant sounds more excited to speak with a person than they do.

Even more unfortunate is the fact that there is a Sales-bot inside of every single salesperson. Waiting to get out when; they’re tired, right after a deal is lost, after leaving 42 voicemails in a row.

The Sales-bot is the imaginary version of a ‘salesperson’ that lives in your head.

What can you do to transform a Sales-bot into (or back into) a salesperson?

  • When answering inbound calls – pretend it is a friend calling
  • When THEY answer the phone – say hello… and have a plan to have a conversation with another human being.
  • Be yourself, NOT the imaginary version of a ‘salesperson’ that lives in your head.
  • Reword scripts so they use real life language PLUS practice until no reading is required!
  • ALWAYS be enthusiastic, yes always – on every voicemail and in every conversation.

One more thing, if you believe people buy from people… then you’ll understand that people NEVER buy from Sales-bots!
