Your leadership WHY

Now it is time to develop your “why” list.

It may be easy for you to begin, but become more difficult as you keep going. Or perhaps, beginning will take some time then the ideas will start flowing. Regardless, it is important for you to take your vision for your team and think about the reasons it is important to you.

Here is one way to work on your list.

  • Begin by asking yourself “why do I want insert your vision here?”
  • Then ask “what will that get me?” for your first answer.
  • And again “what will insert your 1st answer get me?”
  • Over and over again, continue to ask yourself what you will get from that result, until you are thoroughly annoyed and there is NOTHING else.

Alright, you may not become thoroughly annoyed, but many people begin to be frustrated by these questions as they dig past the surface answers that they have always accepted in the past.

You may find your leadership WHY is a single word or phrase. Other people articulate their leadership WHY by sharing the story of their vision for the inside sales organization.

This leadership WHY will keep you focused on your vision through the sheer volume of activity that a typical inside sales manager faces every day. It will help you overcome obstacles, keep your passion through difficult times, and be a touchstone for how you are doing as a leader.
