Recently I had the pleasure of attending a sales team meeting.
Yes it was a pleasure! No I’m not being sarcastic.
I have to say one of the things I loved was that the leader did two things you may want to consider for your next meeting:
1. the morning before the meeting, the team received an email asking them for ONE idea they wanted to implement in their sales habits – yet for some reason hadn’t accomplished it “yet”
2. at the meeting each salesperson shared their one thing – then the sales leader turned to everyone else and asked “who has successfully done (whatever the idea was)?” THEN asked “what did you have to give up to make it happen?”
What an insightful question; what did you have to give up. The answers were all over the board; a belief, time, an existing habit. It was remarkable.
The leader then turned to the person who brought the one thing and asked “What are you going to have to give up to make it happen?” listened… and asked the team how they would be able to support the salesperson in successfully giving it up.
WOW.
