if perception is reality – how does your team perceive you?
I ask because I think too often front line managers don’t think before they act (or fail to act).
Here are three examples my coaching clients have recently shared:
1. The inside sales manager who publicly berates people for being late… then routinely takes a 2 1/2 hour lunch.
2. A sales leader who stresses the importance of training… and goes to all training offered.
3. Telling the team you are always available to call with them… then not showing up.
4. Receiving great information from a manager on accounts… who always says a little research goes a long way.
This week I challenge you to make sure your actions demonstrate that you understand that “telling” and “doing” are different things. That “actions speak louder than words.”
You can change your reality by changing (or reinforcing) your team’s perceptions about you.
