11 Inside Sales Daily Activity Tips

Last week I posted 11 inside sales career tips – here are some daily activity tips to keep in mind for your inside sales success. To reiterate… sales takes effort you don’t get to enjoy the view without climbing first (again, these are in no particular order of importance).
Whiteface 0261. spend more time each day contacting customers than everything else you do combined.
2. ask prospects & customers when they need information back BEFORE you drop everything you’re currently working on.
3. if you can’t do it on your own after 5 minutes, ask for help.
4. responsiveness seems to be a universal reason inside salespeople win business vs. outside salespeople.
5. make work fun!
6. cultivate accountability partners, they will help you sow the right behaviors & reap a bountiful harvest.
7. talk to everyone the same way you speak with your friends – yes ESPECIALLY people you don’t know!
8. listen more!
9. use all the body language you would if you were in the same room with the people you speak with on the phone: smile, wave your arms, make “air quotes”, etc – they’ll hear it!
10. take at least 5 minutes every single day to learn something new about sales; become an expert in your field (not only in your company).
11. combining different methods of communication reinforces your message: call, email, fax, text, letters, hand written notes, brochures, etc.

Always remember, no matter how new you are to sales – you made your fist sale when you sold yourself and got hired! They picked YOU for a reason, be yourself in everything you do.

If you’ve been around for a while, be sure to look back at the peaks of your success – are the things that got you up the mountain still effective? are you still doing them?
