Although you may not realize it – Instant Message can be a trap.
Trap #1 being expedient instead of responsive
Trap #2 believing you can be effective in multiple IM conversations simultaneously.
Trap #3 forgetting that when people send an IM, what they really want is an instant answer.
Safety Tip = make sure you don’t react to an IM, instead think about the end goal of the communication; then decide what the best medium is to reach your goal.

> pick up your phone
> respond in IM
> something else
Stop being disappointed by misusing your instant message tool. Start consciously deciding how to achieve your end goals through effective communication.
