I know, I know – you can’t believe you have to talk about “it” AGAIN.
What “it” am I referring to?
Well that is up to you… the one you roll your eyes and can’t believe you must speak with your team about… AGAIN:
> updating their forecast
> customer contact time
> asking hard questions
> blah, blah, blah – whatever YOUR “it” du jour is.
Here is the deal; part of being a sales manager / sales leader is understanding that everyone (even you) needs reminders to do the difficult, the annoying, the routine.
ONE big key is to decide if today’s “it” requires speak to one salesperson, a few individuals, OR the team as a whole.
Too often I see managers default to a team chat when it isn’t everyone who needs to hear about “it” – then the salespeople who are doing what you want feel like their efforts aren’t appreciated. They take it personally that you’re not noticing the great things they are doing.
Make sure you don’t get lazy, speak to the people who need to hear “it” AGAIN, let everyone else (even if it’s one person) go about their business.
You may be amazed at what happens.
