Fines Double in a Work Zone
As I sat stuck in traffic due to road work (don’t get me wrong, the road I was on needed paving for YEARS and the end result will be fantastic) I began thinking about how individual sales sometimes end up in work zones of their own. Not to mention prospects and customers!
As an Inside Sales Leader – if you can see internal company construction, economic detours, or industry demolition coming that will impact your team’s ability to succeed. TALK ABOUT IT, make a plan for what needs to change before you’re sitting, stuck.
STOP
There are also probably things individuals on your team are doing, that need to stop. Have you clearly put up a sign that let’s them know the behavior is unacceptable?
Everyone needs to know there are consequences for running right through a stop sign. Sure you might get away with it when no one is looking, that certainly doesn’t make it right. Make sure your team knows there will be tickets, and maybe even their license revoked for crossing the line.
Turn Ahead
There’s a funny thing about turn signs (at least for me) the ones showing a slight bend, I probably am not slowing down… if it’s a 90 degree angle, I’m paying attention! I know I’ll need to back off on the gas, break, and down shift.
When you’re working with your team, recognize the changes that need to happen may mean the salespeople need to take their foot off the gas to make the corner smoothly. Change what your measuring – so they safely and smoothly make the business direction change, ready to accelerate.
Inside Sales Leaders… typically, don’t have the luxury of a sign warning them of a bump in the road. You do have the responsibility of adding the sign for your team!
