Intentional Ways To Have Impromptu Meetings

A tip on how to make sure your team is on track to achieve the priorities you’ve helped them set is to create intentional ways to have impromptu-feeling meetings.

Here are a list of things you could include in your schedule for any day:
• Observing calls from your desk.
• Afternoon time to check in with people on how they are doing with their priorities.
• Morning motivation with a great quote.
• Schedule time when you are on the sales floor.

Plus, inside sales is the perfect place for the MBWA (management by wandering/walking around) idea that became popular in the 1980s. It is a great way to catch people doing good things!

Here are some ideas;
• Grab a cup of coffee and slowly make your way through the team, chatting with anyone not on the phone.
• On your way to and from meetings walk through the aisle of inside salespeople.
• Conduct your forecast meetings by rolling your chair up to people’s desks instead of meeting in your office.

Think this isn’t possible in your hybrid / virtual world? THINK AGAIN
• Grab a cup of coffee and video call anyone who shows green on IM, chatting with anyone who answers.
• Give yourself 15-minutes between meetings to shoot an IM to at least one person on your team who doesn’t work in the office with you.

The key is that although this time feels structured for you as the leader, it is informal from your team’s perspective.
