When it feels like stress waves keep crashing against you, think of ways to let go instead of resist.
Here are a few thoughts on letting go:
- letting go of stress, doesn’t mean letting go of your goals.
- resisting feelings of stress – tend to breed more stress – and it becomes a viscous cycle.
- move your body, to change your mindset.
letting go of stress, doesn’t mean letting go of your goals.
When speaking with people about the stress they’re feeling many times it comes up that a peace of the f.e.a.r (false evidence appearing real) is that if they let go of stress, they’ll never reach their goals.
Instead – think of letting the stress go as giving your brain more resources to work toward your goals!
resisting feelings of stress – tend to breed more stress – and it becomes a viscous cycle.
If you hold on tightly to stress, that tension builds more and more stress. Giving you less and less resources to do anything else… which (at least in my experience) causes more stress.
move your body, to change your mindset
“Regular aerobic exercise will bring remarkable changes to your body, your metabolism, your heart, and your spirits. It has a unique capacity to exhilarate and relax, to provide stimulation and calm, to counter depression and dissipate stress.” ~ Harvard Health Publishing (click for the full article)
It seems counter intuitive to STOP doing something… that you’re working on, to be less stressed about it. Next time you’re feeling overwhelmed give yourself a break, literally walk away and move your body. Just 5-minutes, see what happens.
