overheard “sometimes you have to push people to do the things they don’t want to do.”
That statement got me thinking of all the things that were missing… let’s think about this like skydiving for the very first time:
- do they have the skills they need to not only survive but succeed AND have fun jumping?
- is their parachute packed properly?
- is all their gear on, and checked?
- has the safety briefing been reviewed?
- what questions do they have before getting on the plane?
- how can you calm their nerves while in the plane?
Now consider: instead of pushing someone out of the plane, 1st do a tandem jump together.
Sure in sales the steps are different, but you as their leader can still make sure to ask yourself:
- do they have the skills they need?
- is the call plan written?
- have you roleplayed?
- did you throw out some common objections?
- what questions do they have before getting on the call?
- how can you calm their nerves?
Plus consider making the call together!
