Self-Discipline: do you have enough?

Discipline = the strength of will to NOT take the easy way and to succeed instead #LYNNSIGHT

Most salespeople realize there are actions and behaviors that will make them successful AND know it’s not going to be easy.

Despite knowing what needs to be done, either don’t have the necessary skills to be successful or aren’t disciplined enough to be consistent in their efforts.

In case you’re feeling picked on – that is not the case!

Some days it’s easier to convince ourselves to do what we KNOW needs to be done than others. Discipline is something that has to be cultivated – DAILY.

What those efforts look like depend on the day.

Last week I spent most of an entire day trapped in email (at least that is what it felt like). At 4:15pm I told myself I couldn’t be done until I’d made 20 calls.

It took discipline to:

  • not let myself off the hook
  • stop looking at the email strings and focus
  • make the calls

Instead of “shoulding all over myself” I used my self discipline to take action and change the course my day was on. It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t fun, dialing wasn’t what I felt like doing in that moment. I reached two people, had brief conversations, and THAT felt great!

No longer trapped, feeling empowered and ready to come in the next day with a new attitude.

THAT is why it’s important to be disciplined.
