Trust is EARNED! @DebbieMrazek & @ANielsenLDK inspired

I’m lucky enough to have Debbie Mrazek and Anita Nielsen in my world! Even better is talking with them and being inspired on the topic of trust.

As we were talking Anita shared what I’ll call her “gold dots story” – where a personal shopper had something Anita would NEVER have chosen for herself waiting in the dressing room when she arrived.

After moments of dissention the personal shopper said

have I earned the right to ask you to at least try it on?

BOOM now that is a powerful question!

Anita did.. and it’s one of her favorite tops (which she had to buy earrings & bracelets to accessories with it as well).

The rest of our conversation on trust revolved around the idea of trust being earned – that little things done, over time, in someone else’s best interest add up to being able to ask powerful questions.

Actually as I’m writing this – I’ll allow that you can always ask them – your prospects and customers don’t owe you the answer… until you’ve earned it.

At some point in our conversation Debbie made the comment;

“if you want someone to trust YOU,
you have to trust the professionals you work with.”

Which in itself is a very important concept to work on. Showing trust and being willing to trust the people you work with is an important part of being seen as trustworthy yourself.

Trust is difficult to earn – it’s built piece by piece – make sure every interaction proves to the other person that you deserve to be trusted.
