Fake Personalization – just STOP

along with 3 other annoying outreach habits!

“Hey Lynn, I was checking out your blog on sales strategies and loved your insights. Just curious, with all the great content you’re putting out, do you see any needs for a line of credit or capital for new projects or maybe upgrading equipment?”

I’ll admit – I just deleted the email and moved on with my life…

THEN 3-days later:
“Since I reached out a few days ago, we’ve funded another $489k. We have the best equipment rates, and our line of credit allows you to draw funds as needed and only pay for the funds you use.

Any need for financing right now?

Let me know either way.”

#1
annoyance: ZERO tie to anything about me = proof that my feeling it wasn’t really personal the first time was true.

#2 annoyance: I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it = as the recipient of your cold outreach I don’t owe you a response

AND 3-days later…
“Hey Lynn, were you able to check our my previous email?

I appreciate your response either way. Thanks!”

#3 annoyance: I remember decades ago hearing Art Sobczak call this the Postal Inspector follow up. It wasn’t good practice then, and it sill isn’t!

… yes I completely am ignoring the “our” vs “out” typo, it’s the least of my prospecting worries for this salesperson.
