I’ve been thinking a lot about AI lately. Partially because I enjoy writing, although it is time consuming! Which made me ponder if there is a laziness component to AI use – not a personal attribute of laziness, rather is it making me mentally lazy.
I have been taking my old posts, articles, newsletters and plugging them into an AI tool asking it to update them.
Consider this another version of asking for AI to create emails, call plans, agendas, etc (which I also use AI for). I realized it FEELS like I’m using my brain less creatively. There is less time spent pondering, noticing things.
I’m starting to wonder if my curiosity isn’t being peaked as often.
If you’ve been around me you probably know I consider curiosity a key success trait.
I am in no way saying we should stop using AI tools in our sales work!!!
Instead, let’s make sure we are intentionally making the time for creativity, inspiration, and curiousity.
How we sell and the tools we use continues to change: the human connection at the center of what we do hasn’t. Make sure when leveraging all the tools at our disposal, we never loose sight of that!
I will continue to encourage you (and myself) to make sure too stay mentally dynamic and curious.
FYI – in case you’re curious a post like this takes time that is broken into: ideas popping into my head, getting jotted down in a paper note book, filed away – the ones that keep jumping into my brain, move on to me writing more… this one also took a bike ride in the middle (after a vague bullet outline) to flush out my ideas before I finished writing it.
