“Change takes doing thins in a different way and not going back!” LYNNSIGHT
Most teams don’t fail at change because they try something new, they fail because they quietly slip back into old habits when no one’s looking.
Think about it…
- You get fired up about a new sales process.
- Everyone nods in the meeting.
- Two weeks later? Half the team is “adapting” it to be more “comfortable.” Translation: they’re doing it like they always have.
If you want real change, you have to make “going back” harder than continuing with the new way.
That means:
- Commit publicly. Not “let’s try this” but “this is how we sell now.”
- Hold the line. No exceptions for your veterans.
- Model it yourself. You’re not just the coach; you’re running the same plays.
Change requires you to dive in and keep swimming. Take the risk, make the leap, and don’t let anyone paddle back to shore.
of course… you have to ensure everyone knows how to swim the distance (more on that next week)
