Spotlight on Kristie Jones

Spotlight on KristieJones, author of Selling Your Way IN

You know how much I love diving into the latest and greatest thoughts and ideas in the sales world, right? Well, I just wrapped up reading the first section of “Selling Your Way In” by Kristie Jones which came out Tuesday.

While I was going to push through so I could give you a complete review, I have to say Section One: Developing Your Personal Plan for Becoming A Rock Star Professional on its own is worth the price of the book.

If you’re a salesperson: the questions Kristie poses to ask yourself to uncover the type of sales role that will give you the best opportunity for personal and professional success are just amazing.

My recommendation is to go in without any preconceived ideas – answering each question for yourself NOT what you think the right answer is for your current role. Open yourself up to the possibilities.

Then add in finding your sales secret weapon and combining it with another ability to create an unbeatable combination in Chapter 7.

Rounding out your self-exploration in Chapter 9
You need to get real with yourself about three things:

  1. What you really want and how you define success
  2. What you’re really good at and love doing every day
  3. What you’re really going to do and do well

If you’re a sales manager / leader who is looking for great team members: all of the questions Kristie poses for people to ask themselves are easily turned into interview questions! Directing you to define the type of person who will be most successful in the roles you’re working to fill.

Start there, then move to the people who are currently on your team to have coaching conversations to find out their answers. Build the team you need for your own success by ensuring each individual can be successful in their role.

Prepare yourself and everyone on your team by making sure the foundation for success is a solid one.

Grab your copy, dive in, and start selling your way in!
Lynn

ps: of course I’ll be sharing my thoughts on sections two and three later.
