Reigniting Inspiration: A Guide for Inside Sales Managers

It’s not uncommon for even the most experienced Inside Sales Managers to face moments of difficulty and frustration.

Throughout the year, you’ve tirelessly worked on keeping your team motivated, pushing them to perform better. However, there comes a time when you find yourself out of inspiration, feeling stuck, and unable to find the right words to encourage your team.

Battling Self-Doubt:
After challenging months, self-doubt might have crept into your mind. It’s essential to recognize that it’s normal to feel this way after facing adversity.

Instead of letting self-doubt take over, take a moment to reflect on your achievements and the positive impact you’ve had in the past. Remind yourself of your strengths and capabilities as a leader.

Avoiding Judgmental Assumptions:
Perhaps you’ve started assuming how your team will react to new ideas, you may even come to work rolling your eyes in a PRE-annoyed state. It’s crucial to maintain an open mind!

Create a supportive environment where team members feel comfortable sharing their thoughts. Encourage open dialogue and idea sharing, as it can lead to innovative solutions and inspire new approaches.

Battling Exhaustion:
Constantly driving the team throughout the year can be physically and mentally exhausting, especially if the results haven’t met your (your boss… your boss’ boss’) expectations. Instead of feeling consistently burdened by this responsibility, consider empowering your team members to take on more responsibilities.

A collaborative approach can foster team spirit and unleash new energy.

Reflect on Past Successes:
Take a step back and analyze what strategies and approaches have worked for you and your team in the past.

Revisit successful campaigns or sales pitches and identify the key elements that contributed to their triumph. Draw inspiration from these past achievements and adapt them to fit the current market dynamics.

Realign Your Vision:
Review your vision for the team and ensure it is clear and focused. Assess whether your goals are attainable and realistic. If needed, make adjustments to align the team’s objectives with the current market conditions.

A clear and compelling vision can serve as a powerful motivator for both you and your team.

Seek Inspiration Outside of Work:
Sometimes, stepping away from the work environment can be beneficial. Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.

Whether it’s pursuing a hobby, spending time in nature, or reading inspiring books, these experiences can help recharge your creativity and motivation. Taking care of your well-being outside of work is equally important, as it contributes to your overall inspiration and resilience as a leader.

When you feel out of inspiration:

  • take a step back,
  • remember what ignites your passion,
  • then share it!

It’s time to reignite!
