Listening; 3rd – Start Practicing

Last week’s newsletter was the prelude to 3rd – Start Practicing with creating ways (yes plural) to overcome whatever the biggest obstacle to your own listening happens to be.

To become a master listener – you will have to practice LISTENING.

Think about ways you’re going to listen for total meaning:

  • the words they’re saying,
  • what the context of the conversation is for them,
  • underlying attitudes or feelings,
  • how pace, tone, inflection, body language, facial expressions, etc – impact the message.

It’s worth checking out Amanda O’Bryan, Ph.D.’s whole list of How to Practice Active Listening: 16 Examples & Techniques. Pick the ones that will help you have better sales conversations by listening!

Actively Listening,
Lynn
