Prospecting – If it feels like a grind – change it!

Perhaps my FAVORITE Henry Rollins quote is “My optimism wears heavy boots and is loud.”
• The only way to connect with a prospect – is to BE personable!
• The only way to be engage to new people and have them become your customers – is to BE engaging!
• The only way to change someone’s perspective – is to BE convincing!

For me the only way to keep my optimism up while leaving my 42 voicemail of the day is to wear heavy boots and BE loud.

Loud of personality, engagement, and conviction.

If prospecting is getting you down you have to RISE ABOVE
• Make prospecting fun
• Keep your spirits up

Your IDEAS of what you can do!

  1. BREAK for lunch, walk away and reenergize
  2. Be a little up beat & comical – when you reach people
  3. Create different power hours…. BURSTfocus your way through
  4. Focus
    a. new people
    b. live conversations
  5. Change it up (keep 5 or 6 voicemail options in rotation)
  6. Be happy & cheerful
  7. Use humor in conversations
  8. Make prospecting a game
  9. BELIEVE my next dial will be a conversation
    a. then do what it takes to reach a human being
  10. Track – one good thing!
    a. That happens each day…
    b. Write them down as they happen
  11. Lean on your cube mates
  12. Find one new piece of core info
  13. Mix it up between existing & new prospects
  14. Listen to music that I like & makes me smile
  15. Prospect immediately AFTER a really good sales conversation
  16. State the obvious (like how long you’ve been trying to reach them)… get them to laugh
  17. Have a prospecting theme of the day
  18. Use customer stories
