Ignoring success doesn’t breed more success.
To often in leadership it seems people are looking for… maybe even expecting perfection.
There are many reasons this sets a team up to fail:
- perfection isn’t obtainable – so if that is the expectation, everyone is working in an environment of disappointment.
- fear of failure will paralyze the organization.
- nothing is ever “good enough” to be praised.
Instead look for every little success; a good call, that question that uncovered more opportunity, a new customer, a new product set sold to an existing customer, people saying nice things in social media… I don’t acually care what the little success is.
When we celebrate the little successes and make them repeatable – amazing things happen.
one good call turns into many… that question becomes habit and opportunity is uncovered consistently and on – and on – and on.
