I was working with an inside sales organization recently and was truly horrified by their internal communication.
YES HORRIFIED that the majority of the internal requests flying back and forth didn’t include any form of gratitude or thanks.
I don’t care if your request is to your boss, someone who works for you, people on other teams, different departments.
I also don’t care if “it’s their job” – stupidest excuse I actually heard from someone I asked about it.
When you’re sending requests for information / assistance / something to be done; take the 4 or 10 seconds to include a Thanks or Thank You at the end.
Be polite… build relationships… show your gratitude that there is someone to help you and you don’t have to do the task yourself!
