Do you hold YOURSELF accountable?

Accountability= being held responsible for doing what you said you would do.

One of my favorite quotes about management is “inspect what you expect.”

Often I find that people in management and leadership positions think of that quote as being directed at their team… but not themselves. Today I’d like you to inspect what you expect from yourself.

• Do you keep the internal bargains you’ve made?
• Are you being the leader you want to be?
• How accountable are you holding yourself?

You of course are the only person who can answer those questions. What if I asked your team some questions about you…

• Does your manager follow through?
• Do you trust your sales leader to do what they say they’ll do?
• How often are initiatives worked on to completion?

Perhaps you could ask your team those questions, if you’ve built up enough trust. Perhaps you would get different answers if someone else asked – that is telling as well.

No matter what, today is a new day – you get to decide what you want it to be like moving forward. Continue to inspect what you expect: of other people AND from yourself.
