I’m still trying to figure out how to be like Steve Jobs and “go invent tomorrow rather than worrying about what happened yesterday.”
How about you?
My strategy involves setting 3 micro goals for every day.
- is 100% in my control; an activity target that regardless of other people I can achieve.
- shows an indication that I’m doing a good job; qualitative in theme yet still measurable.
- measures a realistic daily result; that proves (to myself) I’m moving toward my BIG or LONG-TERM goals.
When I’m feeling saucy – I’ll add in ONE thing that I really don’t want to do that I know will make me a more successful inside salesperson.
Here is an example from last week:
- 40 dials with at least 1/2 to people I’ve never spoken with before.
That is 100% within MY control. - ask every person I reach “what is ONE thing you have to accomplish before June is over?”
Still 100% within my control… and showing myself that I’m in conversations (which is “an exchange of ideas between people” as defined by UpYourTeleSales) - find 3 new business opportunities
not necessarily within my control, per se, certainly a realistic daily result.
Take a chance on inventing your tomorrow! Take action today.
