Stop walking in other people’s footsteps

Wandering around old Quebec City last week we stumbled across foot steps painted on the sidewalk, paths, etc. Some moose – others human.

It became a game to try and match the steps.

Which was silly I admit, along with being both fun and awkward – just when I thought the moose were the most difficult steps to match… we came across these.

My traveling companion had no difficulty matching the steps, I on the other hand had great difficulty (and laughter) in my attempt to match them.

How often as inside sales managers and leaders do you try to match someone else’s footsteps exactly?
> maybe a directive from above you’ve not made your own.
> a change your not comfortable with yourself.
> perhaps it’s a person you admire and are emulating.

No matter what, you have to stop walking in other people’s footsteps; instead take the time to use the concept BUT make the pace – cadence – direction into your own path.
