How do you spend your day?

I facilitated a roundtable discussion with a group of high potential inside salespeople to talk about what they needed to be MORE successful in the next year. Some of their thoughts and answers will not surprise you – others just might!

  • more product knowledge – combined with how to TALK about the product with prospects & customers.
  • observation time with their boss – undivided attention time with both positive feedback and constructive suggestions.
  • deal strategy roundtables – facilitated discussions to share ideas on how to win existing business opportunities.
  • real life deals – one of their peers sharing a big win; how they found it, earned the right to work on it, won it, PLUS what they will do next in the account.

Oh there were more ideas, I have 2 pages of notes. Many of their ideas were self directed and self motivated. Everyone talked about hard work and effort.

Here is the reason for the title of the post being How do you spend your day?  Many of the salespeople indicated that their manager wasn’t someone who they thought would be a resource to help them with ANYthing on their list.

Read that list again… if a group of high potential inside salespeople don’t believe their sales manager can or perhaps will do those four things WHAT ARE THEY DOING all day?

Hence my question to all the inside sales managers out there. How do you spend your day? Inquiring salespeople want to know!
