Inside sales is not a stage show… or is it?
My favorite definition of sales is by David Sandler “Selling is a Broadway Play Performed by a Psychiatrist”
You need to use your voice as another one of your sales tools.
1. know your range…
You have the to change the meaning of the words you say by changing your tone, pitch, intonation, volume and tempo.
There is a presentation called 55 Words to Describe Someone’s Voice by Sabrina Yeahia do you know how someone would describe yours?
2. warm it up…
Don’t croak out your first sentence (live or on voicemail) make sure your voice is as ready to work as you are! Check out Julie Hansen’s Presentation Vocal Warm-up Exercises (from her book ACT Like a Sales Pro)
3. expand your skill…
Practice makes permanent, practice speaking the way you want to be heard.
Record yourself (I know eeeeewwww) and pick up what you LOVE and what you want to minimize. Then do it.
